Get your questions answered by Tampa’s Leg Pain Specialist

Navigating leg pain can be a stressful and often answerless path. There are a number of potential causes of leg pain, and every specialist out there has the answer to the problem. Here are just a few of the questions I get daily relating to leg pain. Feel free to submit other questions you have that would benefit the masses.

1) Where is my leg pain coming from?

Leg pain can be caused by many things. Getting your condition correctly assessed is key to healing quickly!

This is a great question that we hear quite often from our clients in Tampa Bay regarding their leg pain. Many things can cause leg pain. Getting your condition correctly assessed is key to healing quickly!

Leg pain is a very general sensation, meaning there can be a number of reasons for us to have discomfort in the legs. Some of the conditions that lead to leg pain stem from spinal injuries, muscle imbalances in the feet, and some are actually food-related.

Your particular leg pain will be specific to you, which is why it can be increasingly frustrating to find information online regarding your particular case.

These are a few of the most common possible sources of your pain.

A) A pinched or compressed nerve in your back.
Pain in your legs caused by this type of issue will typically be aggravated by sitting down for extended periods of time.

B) A pinched or compressed nerve in your hip area.
Specifically, compression caused by an overactive piriformis muscle may cause this pain. Typically this starts with a pain in the glutes progressing down the leg.

C) Tingling in the legs.
In most cases I have seen, this is in large part due to a nutritional issue. Consult with your Dr. or Nutritionist if you suspect this to be the case.

D) Weakness sensation in your legs and the loss of muscle.
This is typically also connected to a nerve issue in your spine.

2) Will I need surgery to correct my leg pain?

Could your back be causing your leg pain?

Most likely, relieving your leg pain will NOT require surgery!

With the right tools and the correct approach, you should be able to reverse the leg pain, or better said, identify what is actually causing the problem. Time is not on your side, though! At the first hint of pain in the legs, take actions to correct it. Once your body starts to adapt, and your bones and connective tissue begin to change, due to the pain and irregular forces, it will become harder to correct the underlying problem. Do not wait long to address your situation.

3)What can I do to get rid of my back pain when I am in the Tampa Bay area?

The answer to this question is simple! Set up a phone or in-person consultation with Kevin Votta, Tampa Bay's leg pain specialist. During that consultation, we will explore your specific sensation and take a full medical history to properly asses your condition. From there, we will weigh your options and send you in the direction that is the best fit for your condition.

Understand, the only way to heal your leg pain for good is to find to the cause of your leg pain.
