Reclaim Your Life at Fitness-Tek — Where Pain Stops and Strength Begins.
Kevin Votta is the owner of Fitness-Tek, a corrective exercise and neuromuscular performance studio serving the Tampa Bay area. With more than 20 years of hands-on clinical experience, Kevin specializes in helping people overcome chronic pain, movement dysfunction, and physical limitations when traditional treatments have failed.
Known as a “Muscle Mechanic,” Kevin focuses on identifying why the body hurts—not just where it hurts. Through advanced Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT), manual therapy, and strength-based corrective exercise, he restores muscle function, improves stability, and helps clients resolve issues such as sciatic pain, back pain, mobility loss, and recurring injuries.
Kevin works with a diverse population ranging from active adults and seniors seeking independence to professional and competitive athletes in golf, football, soccer, and dance who depend on optimal movement and performance. His philosophy is simple: when muscles function properly, the body regains strength, confidence, and resilience.
A strong believer in leadership and community involvement, Kevin is an active member and Director Consultant within Business Network International (BNI), where he mentors professionals on relationship-based business growth and referral networking.
Kevin is also deeply involved in youth education and mentorship. He volunteers at his children’s Montessori school, Countryside Montessori Charter School, where he serves on the school board and teaches networking and entrepreneurship principles to middle school students. Through this program, he introduces young leaders to communication skills, confidence building, and the value of meaningful professional relationships at an early age.
Outside the clinic, Kevin is a devoted father of two, outdoor enthusiast, and lifelong learner passionate about helping people build stronger bodies, stronger businesses, and stronger communities.
At Fitness-Tek, I help clients in the Tampa Bay area restore strength, stability, and movement by addressing the neuromuscular system—the communication between the brain, muscles, and joints.
Many cases of muscle tightness and joint pain are not caused by shortened muscles or a lack of flexibility. They occur when specific muscles stop activating efficiently, creating instability and forcing the body to compensate. Over time, these compensation patterns lead to pain, stiffness, and recurring dysfunction.
My focus is to identify and correct these issues at their source.
I don’t treat pain as the problem.
I look at what’s causing the body to compensate.
When certain muscles aren’t firing properly:
My job is to restore proper muscle function first — then build strength, control, and confidence on a body that can support it.
I use MAT (Muscle Activation Techniques®) as a primary tool, along with other neuromuscular techniques, to evaluate and restore proper muscle function.
Muscle Activation Techniques is a systematic process used to identify inhibited or underperforming muscles that compromise joint stability and movement efficiency. When muscles fail to contribute appropriately, the body increases tension elsewhere—often presenting as muscle tightness, limited mobility, or joint pain.
Through targeted assessment and activation, this approach helps:
Restore proper muscle firing
Improve joint stability and control
Reduce compensatory muscle tightness
Increase usable strength without excessive load
MAT is not stretching or massage. It addresses the neurological cause of dysfunction, not just the symptoms.
Each session begins with a detailed assessment of joint motion, muscular response, and movement control. Based on these findings, I apply the appropriate neuromuscular strategies and follow them with corrective exercise to reinforce the changes.
Corrective exercise ensures that restored muscle function is maintained during daily activity, training, and sport—leading to more durable, long-term results.
I work with adults experiencing chronic or recurring joint pain, persistent muscle tightness, and individuals who have not achieved lasting results through traditional approaches. I also work with active individuals and athletes seeking improved performance, durability, and longevity.
The goal is simple:
Restore proper neuromuscular function so your body can move efficiently, produce strength with confidence, and function without ongoing pain.
