Let's get sexy!

Okay, Okay all my HIIT fans out there… I know the post, “More Sexy, Less Time” probably threw you for a loop. You know we here at Fitness-Tek are committed to best serving the masses by not spreading blanket and sometimes false information about a set type of health activity.

BUT

For those of you that can handle it, and I don’t mean mentally or  physically, I mean ask yourself if this is this something you should be doing in the best interest of your body kind of handling it… Oh, and my Type-A folks out there ask and if you get a yes, ask a professional! Those driving personalities that push you to exceed in life are going to crush your body.

Enough on that……on to the juice.

Wait….before the juice. I seem to remember a very wide spectrum of what is actually considered HIIT, so for those of you scratching your head or wondering if you are doing it right, and for our technical folks, this is for you.

What is HIIT?‍

According to ACE (American Council on Exercise), American HIIT is an effort level of 7 or higher or exercising above 80% of your max heart rate.

Now the juice!

The number one benefit of HIIT Training, hands down is…

INCREASED METABOLISM FOR THE REST OF THE DAY!

That’s right! Strap a turbocharger on your metabolism and ride your hard effort for the rest of the day! There are a number of studies that have been done that show an increase in your metabolic rate for hours after doing a HIIT session. That’s a win-win for those of you with little extra time to spend in the gym.

The second greatest benefit from a HIIT session would have to be…..

The sessions ability to deplete blood sugar levels and improve insulin resistance! For those of us on a lose weight, get lean and sexy journey this is a BIG plus. There is more to come in a later post on this topic, but imagine you could begin to change your blood chemistry and hormonal response to food in under 30 minutes only 3 times a week! Boom!

Third and kind of a big one is….

You will increase cardiovascular strength! That’s right, you can get a bigger heart! Well, maybe not so much bigger, but much stronger.  This is an important benefit given that your heart is the pump that keeps you the gym thrashing machine that you already are or are turning into! Bonus - along with that increase in cardiovascular health also comes a great ability to handle stress!

Here is the part where I tell you to check with your Doctor before starting a HIIT program…

Check with your Doctor!

HIIT is no joke and should not be dispensed at will onto unsuspecting newcomers into the gym.

Without proper conditioning in prep for a HIIT workout, real damage to your entire system can be done. Check with your healthcare professionals and do your homework first!
